Camille Christel / Shares New Single 'Goldsmith Street'

‘Goldsmith Street’ is the latest example of Camille Christel’s unique and intricate approach to songwriting.

Heavy with regret and self-questioning, ‘Goldsmith Street’ opens on a lone heartbeat before the gentle addition of piano, cello and Camille’s warm, tender vocals take centre stage. The track’s brave, unconventional structure feels like jigsaw pieces gradually slotting into place, and shares touchstones with everyone from Mazzy Star to Cat Power.

It’s a delicately-built and stunning piece of work, more astonishing that it was written by a 19 year old with only a handful of songs to her name.

Born and raised in Nottingham, Camille’s understated and considered songwriting was born out of a love for Chan Marshall and Justin Vernon. Having self-released two debut tracks ‘Copenhagen’ & ‘New York’ in 2018, ‘Goldsmith Street’ follows the recent release of ‘Chicago’ which saw support from the likes of The Line of Best Fit and Wonderland. All four tracks will be collected together - alongside a final fifth track - to form Camille Christel’s debut EP, due for release in early 2020.

Over the past summer, Camille has worked alongside Kelly Lee Owens, Daniel Avery, and members of both Spritualized & Sigur Rós as part of the BEAM Project. This autumn she will step out on her own playing a handful of low-key solo shows.
