Bear's Den / Share 'Laurel Wreath' Video Ahead Of UK Headline Tour & New Album Release

BearsDen 2019

Today, Bear’s Den release the new video for their latest single ‘Laurel Wreath’. Watch/Share via YouTube HERE.

The track is taken from the band's third studio album ‘So that you might hear me’, set for release on April 26th.

The ‘Laurel Wreath’ video was shot in the Marzahn-hellensdorf neighbourhood of Berlin, which is a neighbourhood that is both home to many immigrants to Germany, but also a stronghold of the far right. It features local actors from an East Berlin housing centre for refugees, and, like the track, explores the idea of loneliness, with the cast living their lives blindfolded, only able to remove them within the confines of their own homes.

Brazilian director duo ‘Jungle’ say: "When we were sent the brief, the last scene immediately came to our minds: Layers and layers of people stashed above each other separated by 50cm walls. People living their lives in the private cubicles they call home, willingly unaware of each other. Paying a price for their individuality. A dreamlike reality where people embodied their isolation through blindfolds.”

Much like its predecessors ‘Fuel On The Fire’ and ‘Blankets of Sorrow’, ‘Laurel Wreath’ reminds the listener how organic, intimate and deeply moving this record is set out to be.

‘So that you might hear me‘ is the follow-up to 2016’s' Red Earth and Pouring Rain' and silver-selling debut, ‘Islands' (2014), which earned them an Ivor Novello nomination in the UK and a devoted following worldwide. Their fans have embraced them for their ability to create music that has evolved from the processes the pair have had to adapt to.

“No one listens to music in boxes anymore, so why make it like that? Our songs incorporate all sorts of sounds, but not in a pre-ordained way,” says Andrew. “We just try to go where each song suggests.”

The band have also launched a weekly podcast series in the run up to the release of their new album detailing the making and writing of the record, hosted by Sugar High’s Danny Carissimi. Listen HERE.
