Continuing his series of single releases with B3SCI / Majestic Casual Records, Kyson  - the moniker of producer, singer and songwriter Jian Liew - has today unveiled a third new track, ‘Have My Back’, which is streaming everywhere now. Stream/Share ‘Have My Back’ via Soundcloud HERE

Whilst the first two singles in this series showcased an electronic soundscape, ‘Have My Back’ introduces a more indie-fuelled sound to Kyson’s repertoire, channeling the likes of King Krule and Mac DeMarco, and setting a new tone for the remaining two singles in the 4-part series he’s currently in the midst of. Speaking about this sonic diversity, Kyson himself shares: “‘Have My Back’ came out of a bunch of sessions when experimenting on songs for my new album. It comes from a very different place to ‘Every High’ and ‘Clear Air’ and I really wanted it to sit separately from them, so we decided to break the original EP format and go for a collection of 2 double a-side singles instead”

The most hypnotising songs are ones we can sink in to, forgetting about everything as their words and melodies wash over us, and that’s the kind of musical alchemy Kyson creates. This Australia-born and now Berlin-based artist is making abstract electro-folk that’s designed to take you closer to his complex and nomadic soul. Skin-prickling and strange; soul-bearing and melodious all at the same time, Jian’s latest work could be described as a cocktail of Ben Howard’s vulnerable vocals and Arthur Russell’s entrancing production, but Jian’s ear for a strong hook elevates it into something greater; a sound he can call his own.

Kyson began his career when he unexpectedly won an official Bon Iver remix competition with a remix of 'Holocene'. Such lauded early recognition of his work encouraged him to pursue his music making more seriously. Two album releases later - via Friends Of Friends, the LA electronic label affiliated with notable such acts as Shlohmo and Tomas Barfod - and with album number three on the horizon, Kyson has returned this with a series of single releases, each track individually released via B3SCI / Majestic Casual Records.

The series began with ‘Every High’ which recently spent the best part of a week at the top of the Hype Machine chart and was followed up by ‘Clear Air’ which has received heavy playlisting support from Spotify. Today’s release of ‘Have My Back’ continues this singles series, with the fourth and final track still to come. All four tracks will then be made available on limited edition vinyl from October, one side channeling Kyson’s electronic influences and the other side more indie styled, both working together to give an exciting glimpse into the scope of Kyson’s abilities and setting the tone for album number three to come.
