Soap&Skin / Shares Planningtorock Remix Ahead Of London Headline Show

SoapSkin 2021

"Austria’s Anja Plaschg makes marvelous piano ballads; eerie, often surreal, and heavy with the atmosphere of Viennese drawing rooms” - Metro (Albums of 2018)
“Its anger and intimacy are piercing” - The Quietus
“‘Surrounded' is one sequinned dress away from the next Bond theme” - Q magazine
“Ethereal choral pieces and gorgeous brass-band lullabies punctuate more conventional songs” - Uncut
“A new buoyancy runs through the album from the sprightly, Eno-esque Italy to the waltz-time drama of Surrounded” - Mojo

Ahead of her forthcoming European live shows, Austria’s Anja Plaschg aka Soap&Skin is pleased to share a remix of ‘Surrounded'. Lifted from last year’s 'From Gas to Solid / you are my friend album', the track returns albeit with a sprinkling of magic courtesy of like-minded Berlin-based producer and musician Planningtorock. Occupying a similarly experimental landscape the DFA endorsed artist revels in the waltz-time drama of ‘Surrounded', the resultant re-working, an altogether more beat based house bumper melded with a nagging Detroit-infused piano motif transporting the original into a different realm.

Recorded mainly at her home in a quiet leafy corner of Vienna, 'From Gas to Solid…’ is not only self-produced but self-played. Plaschg explains the creative process of making the album; “I had to let go of what  I thought I loved and needed, which also meant bringing enormously painful things up from my subconscious – from gas to solid.” She continues; “The sampling process also meant creating, an imagined world [mirrored by the album artwork], click per click, painting the music on my screen – this was ‘gas’. A real – solid - connection wasn’t there. Similarly, the transition from thought and recording to a tangible album shifts from ‘gas to solid’’.

'From Gas to Solid / you are my friend' is available through all usual outlets via Play It Again Sam.
