Swimming Tapes today release their brand new EP, ‘Soft Sea Blue’ on Hand In Hive / B3SCI. The EP is available to buy and stream in full online HERE.

Speaking about the EP’s origins, Swimming Tapes share: "We recorded the EP in January with Adam Jaffrey at his studio on Hackney Road. Unlike the first EP we recorded a lot of this one live, with some overdubbing afterwards, which was a new experience for us. Because of this – and the songs we chose to record this time around – this EP is perhaps a little more upfront that the previous one.”

Produced by Adam Jaffrey (Gengahr, Palace, Leif Erikson), the ‘Soft Sea Blue’ EP is the perfect late summer soundtrack, each track a slice of dreamy shoegaze, forming a sonic haze that transports the listener to sunny climes. The band continue:  “Three of the songs on the EP have been knocking around since our first few practices, but chose not record for EP 1. ‘What’s On Your Mind’ was slightly newer and was finished shortly before we went into the studio. With the 8 songs now recorded across 2 EPs it sort of feels like that’s Chapter 1 of Swimming Tapes. We’ve been playing those 8 songs live for quite a long time now, so it will be nice to have them all out there.”

Swimming Tapes will mark the release of ‘Soft Sea Blue’ with a headline show at The Lexington in London on Wednesday 20th September. Final tickets for the show are on sale here.

Swimming Tapes arrived in 2016 with a self released demo track, ‘Souvenirs’, which quickly won them acclaim from the blogging world. Follow up tracks ‘Set The Fire’ and ‘Cameos’ saw them reach the top spot on the Hype Machine chart, earned the band their first play from BBC Radio 1, and tipped them well over 3 million track streams on Spotify, firmly cementing the quintet as ones to watch for 2017 and the band have more than delivered.  So far this year, the band have picked up multiple plays across Radio 1 (Huw Stephens, Phil Taggart, and as Annie Mac’s New Name for June), Beats1, KCRW & Virgin Radio, as well as playlist adds on Ultimate Indie and New Indie Mix playlists. Whilst on the live front they’ve sold out their first ever London headline show, played an official showcase in front of a packed out crowd at The Great Escape, and played numerous UK festival stages including Dot To Dot.
