Swimming Tapes have unveiled their first new material of 2017, in the form of new single ‘Queen’s Parade’. Produced by Adam Jaffrey (Palace, Gengahr, Leif Erikson) and taken from their soon to be announced EP, ‘Queen’s Parade’ effortlessly oozes nostalgia with its dreamy shoegaze guitar riffs and an earworm of a chorus to boot.

Speaking about the track, Swimming Tapes share: “'Queen's Parade’ is a pleading note about the state of a beloved seafront street in our home town of Bangor, Northern Ireland. Three of us grew up here and there was a sense you were watching something that seemed very beautiful slowly fade into nothing. “Fond memories tainted by complete neglect whilst always hoping it will return to its former glory when it was full of life, or so it seemed when we were in our youth.”

The now London-based five piece arrived in 2016 with a self released demo track, ‘Souvenirs’, which quickly won them acclaim from the blogging world. Follow up tracks ‘Set The Fire’ and ‘Cameos’ saw them reach the top spot on the Hype Machine chart, earned the band their first play from BBC Radio 1, and tipped them well over 1 million track streams on Spotify. Swimming Tapes rounded off the year with the release of their debut EP, named after their first single ‘Souvenirs’, on burgeoning London indie label Hand In Hive, and have firmly cemented themselves as ones to watch for 2017.

Having just sold out their first ever headline show - at The Waiting Room in London - Swimming Tapes will perform at The Great Escape and Dot To Dot festivals in May, and will return to London for a headline show at The Lexington on 20th September. Tickets for that particular show will be go on sale at 10am Friday 12th May.
