Swimming Tapes / Share New 'Passing Ships' Video Ahead of Live At Leeds & Hit The North
Swimming Tapes have unveiled a gloriously retro video for their current single ‘Passing Ships’.
‘Passing Ships’ has picked up multiple spins from BBC 6 Music in recent weeks and is the second single, following the recent ‘Pyrenees’, to be taken from the band’s forthcoming debut album ‘Morningside’ which is set for release on 24th May via Hand In Hive.
This latest video of theirs uses documentary footage of the Third Avenue El Train in New York, which went out of service in 1955. The visuals directly correlate with the Sliding Doors theme of the song’s lyrics, as the band contemplate a relationship that could have been. Speaking about the concept in more detail, the video’s director Marc Corrigan shares: “juxtaposing urban clips with rural, and mixing past with present, touches on themes of nostalgia, memories, a parallel life, or what might have been.”

With the release of ‘Morningside’ fast approaching, Swimming Tapes are hard at work on the live circuit. Having just wrapped up a lengthy headline tour of the UK and Ireland, including a night at London’s Oslo, they are now set to play Live at Leeds and Hit The North in early May. They’ve also been shortlisted to play Belle & Sebastian’s Boaty Weekender in August alongside the likes of Yo La Tengo, Alvvays, and more. Details on the ‘Boaty Battle’ here.
