Swimming Tapes square

With their second EP - ‘Soft Sea Blue’ - out next week (15th September via Hand In Hive / B3SCI), Swimming Tapes have unveiled the official video for their current single ‘What’s On Your Mind’.

Speaking about the typically nostalgic cut, the band share: “all our videos so far have had a hazy analogue feel, our songs are quite hazy and nostalgic, we use a lot of reverb and like a lot of older analogue sounds – the ‘tapes’ in our name is a nod to that. There is an atmosphere in old photos, we want to capture some of that.”

Celebrating the EP’s release, Swimming Tapes will headline The Lexington in London on 20th September with more UK dates to be announced soon. Tickets for the London show are on sale now here. ‘Soft Sea Blue’ will be available digitally and on very limited edition 12” vinyl. Pre-order the EP here.

Produced by Adam Jaffrey (Gengahr, Palace, Leif Erikson), the ‘Soft Sea Blue’ EP is the perfect late summer soundtrack, each track a slice of dreamy shoegaze, forming a sonic haze that transports the listener to sunny climes.

Swimming Tapes arrived in 2016 with a self released demo track, ‘Souvenirs’, which quickly won them acclaim from the blogging world. Follow up tracks ‘Set The Fire’ and ‘Cameos’ saw them reach the top spot on the Hype Machine chart, earned the band their first play from BBC Radio 1, and tipped them well over 2 million track streams on Spotify, firmly cementing the quintet as ones to watch for 2017 and the band have more than delivered.  So far this year, ’Queen’s Parade’ has picked up multiple plays across Radio 1 (Huw Stephens, Phil Taggart, and as Annie Mac’s New Name for June), Beats1, KCRW & Virgin Radio, whilst on the live front they’ve sold out their first ever London headline show, played an official showcase in front of a packed out crowd at The Great Escape, and played Dot To Dot.
